Lesser Emperor- a reserve first.

Late in the day yesterday a male Lesser Emperor dragonfly was discovered on the pool outside the Martin Smith Hide, this is the first record for the reserve and is a rare insect in Gloucestershire and the UK.

Two male Ruff, 23 Redshank, 81 Black-tailed Godwit, Oystercatcher, a small number of both Shoveler and Teal, flock of Greylag Geese and a few Canada Geese.

Tack Piece

8 Green Sandpiper, 1 Common Sandpiper and a few Lapwing in the scrape.

Top New Piece

7 Ruff, 7 Redshank, 5 Dunlin, c100 Lapwing, c40 Teal.

Kingfisher Hide

Crane pair with juvenile.

1130am-1pm

Broad bodied, Scarce and Four spotted Chasers, Emperor, Ruddy Darter, Common Darter. Hobby, Buzzard, Yellow-legged Gull, 40 Curlew, 11 Common Tern, Little Grebe.
