Mediterranean Gulls

The Jack Snipe (below) was with a Common Snipe and viewable from the hole in the wall viewing slots between Willow and Knott Hides.

South Lake

326 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Avocet, 2 pairs of Oystercatcher, the Great Crested Grebe pair and 8 Pochard among the highlights, the Black-headed Gull colony has attracted a couple of Mediterranean Gulls.

A 3cy (third calendar year) bird is holding a territory on the South Lake islands, an adult bird was also visiting the same site. The younger bird is darvic ringed with yellow 2X7N.

Zeiss Hide/Top New Piece

33 Golden Plover, 2 Dunlin, 2 Ruff, 2 Snipe, 60 Wigeon, 8 Lapwing (displaying) and 7 Avocet here today.

Tack Piece

2 Crane, 14 Dunlin, 2 Oystercatcher, 200 Wigeon (seems to be a big reduction in duck numbers overnight), the E. White-fronted Goose flock (initially in the Stall House Ground).

Holden Tower

3 Crane, Peregrine, 70+ Barnacle Geese, 50 Wigeon, pair of Pied Wagtail and 18 Avocet.
