Misty morning and visible migration

The fog finally cleared by 2.00pm but it was still possible to see birds that were close to the hide all morning.

South Lake

Long-billed Dowitcher 1 (all day)
Black-tailed Godwit 97 at 0830 and 140 later.
Great Crested Grebe 1
Shoveler 37
Little Egret 1

Holden Tower

E White-fronted Goose 6
Canada Goose 300
Barnacle Goose 130
Egyptian Goose 1
Plus the white headed Canada and a dark steel grey hybrid with white head and neck.

Zeiss Hide

Bittern 1
Water Pipit 1 flew in calling and dropped amongst the cut juncus for 5 minutes before flying off toward the Holden Tower.

Good visible migration mostly flocks of Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Siskin, Redpoll, Linnet and Meadow Pipit. No thrushes maybe later in the week.

Hen Harrier ringtail also seen over the Tack Piece at 2.00pm heading NW
