New American waders?

Holden Tower

A Pectoral Sandpiper flew in high from the NE (Tack Piece) and dissapeared on the saltmarsh. About ten minutes later two waders flew to one of the pools on the Dumbles and joined the Lapwing. It turned out to be the Pectoral and a Buff-breasted Sandpiper. They both flew out to the estuary and went missing but the BBS appeared on the saltmarsh edge. At lunchtime the latter bird was showing and access opened to allow today's visitors to look for it with a warden. We have a lot of seasonal work on at the moment and in a rush to get it all done before swans and geese come back any day now. We may/may not be able to repeat the access and viewing. Check with the website or twitter for updates.

Lots of disturbance here this week as we coppice willows, strim out views for better birding in reeds, replace Zeiss Hide roof, de-silt ditches, re-align and repair fences, repair damaged tracks and flail hedges in preparation for the winter. Sorry for any inconvenience but this is essential work.
