Holden Tower

Out on the Dumbles (saltmarsh/saltpasture) things have become quieter after the winter birds have departed. Look carefully though, Lapwings are on territory and displaying. A big surprise came in the form of an Otter (see pics below)

Tack Piece

Up to 9 Cranes (GCP), 2 E. White-fronted Geese (rest of flock has departed for Russia), 30 Wigeon, 30 Shoveler, 12 Teal.

Rushy Pen

2 pairs of Avocet looking at the islands today, 2 Oystercatcher and a pair of Lapwing.

South Lake

38 Avocet, 187 Black-tailed Godwit, 5 Lapwing and a few Snipe. Decent gathering of 70 Shoveler and 40 Teal.

Top New Piece/Zeiss Hide

Spotted Redshank, 3 Redshank, 11 Ruff (moulting into breeding plumage), 2 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Snipe, 2 Oystercatcher and 6 Lapwing. 65 Wigeon, 9 Teal, 4 Gadwall, 8 Tufted Duck.

Kingfisher Hide

Digging at the nest hole, see below. Also Little Grebe present.
