Red Necked Phalarope

Red Necked Phalarope

Rushy

Still great here, some Crane activity but the Avocets now look good with 3 pairs apparently incubating. The Oystercatchers pair have at least 2 young and there was 9 Black Tailed Godwit feeding here as well.

Holden Tower

A little quiet here but a Great Crested Grebe pair with one young could be seen on the Long Ground Pool. there were only 6 Lapwing on the Dumbles presumably with youngsters and a flock of 6 on the Tack Piece. Two Cranes flew over and there were 3 Curlew and a hand full of small waders very distant on the estuary.

Zeiss Hide

The Red Necked Phalarope is still here and was joined by 5 Dunlin today. There were 3 Redshank and a single Black tailed Gotdwit.

 Todays Safari

Some good dragonflies with at least 7 Hairy and  4 Broad bodied Chasers. There were two Grass Snakes under the tin on both visits. Great Crested Grebe on the nest and 4 pairs of Common Tern. One pair of Redshank clearly have young and we saw Yellow Wagtails on both trips a male in the morning and a female in the afternoon. Toad and Kingfisher, many Grey Herons and several Little Egret. To top it all a Hare allowed us to get very close.

South Lake Hide is still closed as a section of floor has been replaced. Sorry for the inconvenience.
