Some Waders and lots of Cranes
Holden Tower
A good high tide this morning but the Dumbles didn't quite flood. A good selection of waders including 4 Grey Plover, 25 Ringed Plovers, 20 Dunlin, 2 Little Stint. there were at least 5 Wheatear and 1 Whinchat and a good steady passage of Sand Martins first thing (150) and Swallow (100) later. A Peregrine and 2 Ravens were on the edge of the Dumbles. Willow Warbler, Blackcap, Chifchaff, Sedge and Reed Warbler were along the walkway.
Rushy
An impresive 32 Avocet were sheltering from the wind in here with 2 handsome second summer Mediteranean Gulls and a Common Sandpiper.
Cranes
At least 18 birds on site today, best views from the Holden Tower/Tack Piece area including the Slimbridge Chick from last year.
Zeiss Hide
A growing flock of 150 Black Tailed Godwits attracted 6 winter plumage Bar Tailed Godwits. also Lapwings, Little Egret, Redshank and Cettis Warbler.
Kingfisher Hide and South Finger
No sign of Kingfisher here this morning, but hoping they are now incubating but no firm proof of this as yet. Great views of a Cuckoo here this morning, 18 Teal and 2 Avocet distantly.
South Lake
Lots of Black Headed Gulls with a single sleeping second Summer Little Gull among them, presumably the same bird that has been feeding near the Zeiss Hide over the past few days.
