Todays Sightings.

Robbie Garnett
Two Cranes were nice and close here, 250 Teal were along the main channel.
Holden Tower
The Holden scrape was alive with birds this morning. A mixture of the re-contouring work in the scrape and the grass cuttings that were spread there have proven very attractive. About 30 Meadow Pipits, 8 Skylark, Pied Wagtails, Starling and Lapwings were joined by a fine Water Pipit. A Peregrine was on the Dumbles edge most of the day. The 20 Whitefronted Geese were on the Dumbles as well and the 8 Cranes including the wild bird joined them. There was an earlier encounter between two of the Cranes and 4 Roe Deer in fields to the north of the tower and a Short Eared Owl was seen over the Spartina island. Dunlin, Lapwing (450) and Golden Plover (90) added to the spectacle.
The summer walkway will now be closed for the season from tomorrow as bird numbers are building both in the Tack Piece and on the Dumbles.
South Lake
A bit quiet here just now just 27 Black tailed Godwit and 300 Lapwing.
Zeiss Hide
Nice to see the Wigeon back in here in some numbers (435) after a long spell of them feeding out of sight on the estuary. About 800 Teal were sheltering from the wind. Waders included one Black tailed Godwit, one Spotted Redshank, 12 Redshank and the odd gang of Dunlin from the estuary.
Bits and Pieces.
There were at least 4 Chiffchaff around the site, a bird at the south finger probably the most view-able, also good here for singing Cettis and calling Water Rail. The odd Redwing flock and small numbers of Fieldfare and Skylark have been passing over.
