Today's sightings

The Barn Owl is out hunting the seawall again today, viewable distantly from the Holden Tower, Zeiss, Van de Bovenkamp and Kingfisher Hides looking to the SW.

A Pink-footed Goose is among the Greylag on the Tack Piece and 50 Golden Plover are on the Dumbles.

Territorial Lapwing are nest scraping and incubating in various places, their display flights can be seen from many hides including the South Lake. Avocets have been affected by the gales, some eggs have been laid but they have abandoned them. The mobile colony cannot seem to decide where is best to settle down. At least 7 pairs of Oystercatcher are on site.

At least 143 Black-tailed Godwit were viewable from the South Lake Discovery Hide.

Chiffchaffs (10+) and Cetti's Warbler (5+) can be heard around the site.

13 Swallow were feeding over the Top New Piece by 0900hrs.
