Rushy Pen

Little Gull- second summer roosting on the islands around midday at least. Greylag Geese, Mallards, a pair of Oystercatcher, Lapwing, Tufted Duck, Shelduck, Teal and a pair of Wigeon were also present here today.

Tack Piece

Lower water levels on the wader scrape has drawn in a few feeding Black-tailed Godwit. 16 Teal and 8 Shoveler are also in the scrape. Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Blackcap all singing in the hedges.

Holden Tower

A flock of 35 White and 4 Yellow Wagtail and 14 Meadow Pipit were feeding on the saltmarsh turf and puddles, 14 Lapwing are still territorial. At least 8 Swallow and a few Sand Martins feeding over the fields. A Short-eared Owl flew down from Middle Point past the hide.

South Lake

1340! Black-headed Gull were joined by at least 8 Mediterranean Gulls (adult, 4 second-summer and three first summer). Three Lapwing,  1 Common Sandpiper, 143 Black-tailed Godwit and 3 Avocet represented the waders on the scrape.

Zeiss Hide

A flock of 38 Avocet feeding on the scrape, a pair of Wigeon and a few Teal also on the flood. Three pairs of Lapwing are on nests.

Kingfisher Hide

Lapwing on territories on the field and 38 Teal and 5 Avocet on the flood. Willow, Sedge and Cetti's Warblers all in song.
