Today's sightings
Wader numbers are gradually starting to increase as Autumn progresses, most notable are the arrival of the first few Snipe.
Mid Point and Summer Walkway
This morning's rounds saw waders distributed across the estuary in several large groups. Over 200 Dunlin were present, including 2 birds which came in close with 5 Sanderling. Over 100 Curlew were also counted along with 3 Avocet and 2 Little Egret. On your walk to Mid Point listen out for Yellow Wagtails feeding amongst the cattle on the Dumbles.

South Lake Hides
The Black-tailed Godwit flock this morning contained 224 birds. Also present on the wader scrape were 10 Ruff, 32 Redshank, 2 Snipe, 57 Lapwing and a single Green Sandpiper.

Rushy Hide
At least 3 Green Sandpipers were on the lower pond this morning with 7 Black-tailed Godwit, 10 Lapwing and a single Redshank.

Robbie Garnett Hide
A total of 13 Green Sandpiper could be counted from the hide along with a single Snipe feeding close in the edge of the reeds and 4 Redshank were also seen. Two Cranes (Sedge and Monty) were feeding at the back of the Tack Piece. A small feeding flock of hirundines were busy over the field and over the cattle on the Dumbles.
