Little Gull passage
A flock of 17 to 23 flew off the estuary near to Frampton with Black-headed Gulls and headed NNE at 1330. They may have carried on migrating. At 1345 an adult was feeding with Black-headed Gulls over the 100 Acre reedbed and hedge. At 1425 a further 5 adults were also feeding over the centre/South Lake and car park with BHG. They appeared to drift off NNE. At least two Mediterranean Gulls also left South Lake and headed NNE.
Avocets
At least ten are present in our recording area. A pair came in on the scrapes and I watched them copulating and nest scaping together at two sites. A Water Vole survey party moved them from the Rushy in the morning and the pair were on the South Lake until 1300 at least. The rest of the birds, 8 in total remained on a mud shelf over high tide near Saul Warth.
