Today's sightings

In summary- hide news and work plans

The Wigeon flock has moved back to the estuary and other duck species spreading out across the reserve. The godwit flock can take some locating and usually have the Long-billed Dowitcher with them. They still favour the Tack Piece, Road fields and South Lake. The water levels on the Top New Piece (from Zeiss Hide) should drop this week exposing mud for the waders. This is in reaction to our plan to carry out the final seasonal work on the South Lake. It has been a bit quieter for birds here this week making it an ideal time to go for it before the cold weather bird number increases. We will be strimming (brush cutting) to keep views open, coppicing willows, cleaning the hide windows and much more this Tuesday and Wednesday. The birds will move to other parts of the reserve whilst this is carried out. Check the website and diary near the shop for updates on where the birds are.
