Today's Sightings.

Rushy

Great watching here, the three pairs of Avocets (plus an extra adult this morning) have eight young between them all doing very well. The Oystercatcher chick is all but full grown and 18 Black Tailed Godwits were roosting as normal on the top pond. A Green Sandpiper and several Tufted and Shelduck broods were also here.

Holden Tower and walkway.

There were 6 Green Sandpipers from the Robbie Garnett Hide along with a close Little Egret. A Cettis Warbler and a Little Grebe from the Knott Hide and at least 30 Curlew distantly on the estuary. watch out for recent sightings of a Marsh Harrier along the summer walkway often a little latter in the day.

South Lake

Full of Young Shelduck and Tufted Duck, molting flocks of Gadwall and Mallards. The Black Headed Gulls are having a very successful season here but a pair of Common Terns have muscled in to one of the rafts and look like they are incubating this morning only inches away fron a Gulls nest. The post breeding flock of Redshank numbered 47 and 14 Black Tailed Godwit were also here.

Zeiss and South Finger

The post breeding Lapwing flock numbered 78 this morning with two Redshank and an adult Avocet among them. Another lone Green Sandpiper was here and a flock of 28 Teal all rapidly going into molt. A Little Egret and 9 Shoveler were also of note.
