Today's sightings- Chiffchaff singing

Holden Tower

Nine Avocet on the scrape. One Grey Plover with 41 Golden Plover, 50 Dunlin and 12 territorial Lapwing. Three GCP Cranes and a few Greylag and Canada Geese with the 50 Shelduck. A Chiffchaff was singing in the bushes below the hide.

Tack Piece

The White-fronted Goose flock is still here. it consists of 98 European and 5 Greenland White-fronted Geese. 400 Wigeon also present on the Tack Piece.

Rushy Pen

2 female Greater Scaup with 40 Pochard, 60 Pintail and 70 Shelduck. A pair of Avocet were nest prospecting on the lower lake.

South Lake Discovery Hide

Six Avocet, 30 Teal, 4 Oystercatcher, 120 Black-headed Gull, 5 Pochard, 45 Tufted Duck and a second summer Mediterranean Gull (flew to Rushy Pen).

Please note that Hogarth Hide is still closed, contractors are currently fixing the leaking roof, the birds on the wader scrape and deep lake seem to largely ignore them. 

Zeiss Hide

Thirteen Avocet, 5 Redshank, 200 Wigeon and smaller numbers of other duck species present.

Decoy Wood

Chiffchaff singing (audible from the Big Pen). One singing at the South Finger yesterday.
