Today's sightings + late news for yesterday.

Holden Tower

0800hrs- Wheataear-1, Ruff 23, 80 Teal, 13 Pintail, 12 Wigeon (includes the 'Sharpness Dock' male, appears to be a hybrid), Lapwing 60, Curlew 30. It will get busier over the tide around 1130hrs.

South Lake

Black-tailed Godwit-125, Redshank 30, Lapwing 100, Teal 40, Great Crested Grebe-2, Little Grebe-1, Cormorant-7, Mallard-90, Gadwall 20, Shoveler 30.

Avocet 1, Lapwing 123, Green Sandpiper 1, Greenshank 1, Teal 675, Snipe 6, Wigeon 12 (same flock as above), Pintail 1, Little Grebe 2, Grey Heron 2, Buzzard, Reed Bunting, Reed Warbler, Crane-4 GCP

Crane family update

The family are still on the reserve and doing well, we have seen them 'flocking up' with the others.

Dragonflies

Plenty of Migrant Hawker and Common Darter about the site, a few Southern Hawker are also to be found.

Late news for 1/9/2015

Siskin-8 over, Yellow Wagtail-11 on site, Whinchat-3, Wheatear-1, Little Gull juvenile around the Dumbles floods, Redstart-4 along Tack Piece fenceline, Hobby, 2 Marsh Harrier, Turnstone, 16 Knot, 1 Little Stint among the Dunlin and Ringed Plover, 20 Ruff, 5 Avocet. An early Bittern was seen in flight over the north end of the reserve.

Bullfinches including juveniles, Garden Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat, Common Whitethroat, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Blackcap all seen in the car park hedges and bushes/hedges around the Holden Tower/Knott Hide
