Peregrine Photographs
The Peregrine Falcon has become an iconic bird of Slimbridge of the recent years. We tend to see at least two Peregrine’s every day of the year. They spend most of their time hunting for wildfowl and waders near the river’s edge. They have always proved very difficult to photograph as they tend to sit far away from people as possible. So we decided it would be a good idea to try and get some photographs of these magnificent birds. A few days ago we moved the remote camera and placed it in front of the Holden Tower. The first day the camera recorded a few Starlings and a crow, but yesterday we were rewarded with a female Peregrine. This large female seems to be about 4 years old as she shows some moult in the tertials, and it also ringed. We hope over the next few day we may get some more images of these birds up close, and then we will try and get some video.
