Don't Let the Rain Stop Play

Don’t let rain stop play during the May Half Term. Here at WWT Arundel we love all kinds of wet weather from downpours to drizzle because without it, where would wetlands be?

There are so many things to do on rainy days to keep the busiest of minds occupied, whatever your age. The Lloyd of Flies Wetland Bug Hunt trail is weather proof! Families can enjoy the trail at WWT Arundel Wetland Centre through June 1, as WWT partners with animation studio, Aardman and the Royal Entomological Society. Join an epic minibeast wetlands adventure, fronted by the well-known comedy character, housefly Lloyd, featured in Aardman’s children’s comedy series, Lloyd of the Flies. Download the free, augmented reality App that brings the trail before your visit or here in centre on our free W-Fi.

Just pull on your wellies, pop up an umbrella or even lift your eyes to the skies and embrace it because after all, it’s just a ‘bit’ of rain!

During the May half term we have plenty of things for a fun day out and rainy days won’t stop that. Escape the everyday and immerse yourself in nature, from splodging through puddles, exploring insectlife with a pond dip, and drop-in crafts indoors, WWT is a great place for a day out in West Sussex.

When it’s raining our feathered friends tend to get on with things, so birdwatching in the rain is no problem. But if you want a break from the weather you can retreat into one of our eight wildlife hides, which provide the perfect place to watch what’s going on outside while straying dry and still experiencing the wonder of wetlands. Pop into the family friendly Discovery Hide opposite Pelican Cove for views over the Arun Rverlife lagoon. Don’t miss a stop in the sand martin hide to watch the nesting sand martin colony pop in and out of the holes in the nest bank!

And when you’re done with your adventures, snacks, treats and drinks are available at the Water’s Edge Café. Warm up with a hot chocolate or cool down with an ice cream because whatever the weather, there’s always time for seasonal treats!
