Pride in Nature

Saturday 14 June - save the date!

Join us this Pride Month to celebrate equality, diversity, inclusion and nature for all, with a programme of activities including:

Queer Ecology Walk | 10-11.30am or 12.30-2pm

Did you know that scientists often struggle to find male woodlice? Or that male trees can turn female? Or that many bird species form same-sex partnerships? ‘Queer Ecology’ challenges our ideas of what’s “natural” and celebrates diversity in all life. Join ecologist Connor Butler on a gentle, guided nature walk exploring the wonderfully diverse and unusual lifecycles of plants and animals. You'll learn how to identify birds, insects, and flora while seeing nature from a whole new perspective.

FREE with admission, pre-bookable or sign up on the day. The walk lasts 90 minutes.

Craft activities

Pick a wetland creature to inspire your craft — birds like herons, bitterns, swans, or creatures like frogs, dragonflies, or newts. Use craft materials (coloured paper, feathers, biodegradable glitter, paints, recycled materials) to decorate wings, masks, or large feathers in rainbow Pride colours or using the colours of your favourite Pride flag.
