The Dumbles and all foreshore areas flooded for the third day in succession on these very high spring tides. It wasn't as windy today so we didn't have the seabirds in our section of the estuary. A frake Common Scoter was floating in the estuary over high tide and drifted out.
Sightings today included the following.
Tack Piece
The Spotted Redshank (also on the Rushy) and Ruff among 25 Curlew, a party of 13 Ringed Plover and 9 Dunlin also noted plus three White and a couple of Pied Wagtails. Ducks numbers decrease further but Shoveler, Teal, Wigeon and Shelduck all present.
South Lake
Three Mediterranean Gulls noted, Common Sandpiper, 83 Avocet, 100+ Black-tailed Godwit, Swallows and Sand Martins.
Top New Piece
Three Little Egret, 2 Crane, Avocet moved here later in the day, 2 Sedge Warbler, 86 Black Tailed Godwit and 2 Oystercatcher.
Bottom New Piece/Kingfisher Hide
Kingfisher (male & female), 4 Redshank, 6 Lapwing and Marsh Harrier.
