Avocet increase

Tufted Ducks are displaying (pictured) with the Robbie Garnett Hide being a good place to watch and hear the unusual calls.

South Lake

The Avocet flock on the wader scrape has increased to 62 with 64 Black-tailed Godwit, 22 Dunlin, 9 Redshank, 92 Lapwing, 1 Oystercatcher, 43 Shoveler, 40 Tufted Duck and 28 Pochard on the deep lake.

Zeiss Hide/ Top and Bottom New PIece

42 Dunlin, 18 Golden Plover, 1 Ruff, 2 Oystercatcher, 220 Lapwing, 40 Wigeon and 90 Teal.

A Great Spotted Woodpecker was drumming in the adjacent Spinney Wood.

Holden Tower

150 Eurasian (Russian) White-fronted Geese still on the Dumbles with 232 Barnacle Geese and a few Canada Geese, c20 Linnet, a dozen or more Skylark and a small flock of Teal and Wigeon and a pair of Oystercatcher at the north end of the Dumbles next to a deeper tidal flood pool. c30 Shelduck were scattered across the Dumbles.

Tack Piece

14 Shoveler, 350 Wigeon, 2 Curlew, 14 Redshank, 1 Ruff, a few Pintail and Shelduck.

Martin Smith Hide

4 Snipe, 4 Pintail, a pair of Reed Bunting (male singing) and calling Cetti's Warbler.

Duck Decoy

57 Shelduck, 48 Tufted Duck, pair of Gadwall and Teal. Greenfinches were calling along the boardwalk.
