Car Park Works Tuesday 3rd & Wednesday 4th March

During these dates, parking spaces may be restricted to allow contractors to safely and effectively carry out line painting. Please be mindful that diversions may be in place, and accessible parking spaces may be temporarily relocated to other suitable areas during the works. Big count of Dunlin

There are lots of waders around today with a bumper count of Dunlin

There are lots of waders around today with a bumper count of Dunlin - a count of 1308 was made from the Zeiss Hide this morning, plus several hundred more dotted around the reserve!

Kingfisher Hide
A flock of 48 White-fronted Geese were in the Bottom New Piece this morning, having arrived from the north around 8am. By the late morning the flock had increased to 54 birds.

Zeiss Hide
Along with the 1308 Dunlin on the Top New Piece were 4 Redshank, 484 Black-tailed Godwit, 68 Wigeon, 9 Ruff, 6 Shoveler, 75 Knot, 300+ Teal and 483 Lapwing. The Bittern was showing again by late morning.

Estuary Tower
The 8 Pink-footed Geese were on the spartina island this morning. On the Dumbles were 45 Shelduck and 600+ Lapwing.

Robbie Garnett Hide
Counts from the Tack Piece this morning included 89 Curlew, 676 Wigeon, 27 Redshank, 24 Ruff, 1000+ Lapwing, 300+ Golden Plover and 150+ Dunlin.

Rushy Hide
The same 25 Bewick's Swans were present again this morning with 113 Shelduck, 216 Tufted Duck and 252 Pochard.

South Lake
Along with several hundred Lapwing waders included 103+ Knot and 198 Black-tailed Godwit. The deep lake held 58 Shoveler and 21 Pochard with a few Tufted Duck and Mallard.
