Garganey and Cranes

Zeiss Hide
Lots of activity from the lapwing. At least one family has hatched of, still 3 incubating birds and lots of chasing of Corvids. Odd pairs of Shoveler prospecting into the fields. Black Tailed Godwit looking great in summer plumage 2018 heer and another flock close to the Kingfisher hide. Several pairs of Redshank all prospecting as well and a male Ruff now sporting a white head. Avocet 18, feeding on the scrape but no sign of breeding here yet. At least 9 Cranes visible from here including an unringed adult and 2 juveniles which are starting to look a little more like the adults with the black red and white on the head beginning to develop. There was a flock of 8 Curlew on the Dumbles and another lone bird and Reed and Sedge Warblers singing in front of the hide.
Kingfisher Hide
A brief flyby from the Kingfisher but activity should increase soon as the eggs are due to hatch this weekend. Reed Sedge and Cettis Warblers and a Cuckoo all singing near hide. A pair of Cranes, 47 Black Tailed Godwits and a scattering of Lapwing in the field.
Tack Piece
Good views of male Garganey from the Robbie Garnett Hide, a couple of Redshank and Avocet and a single Oystercatcher. Still 12 Wigeon and 8 Gadwall.
Rushy Hide
Buzzing with activity from the Black Headed Gull colony and a dozen Avocet several of which are now incubating. Watch out for the Little Ringed Plover it was very close to the hide this morning. Mediteranean Gulls are dropping in here later in the day, there were 3 adults yesterday.
South Lake
Another Little Ringed Plover, 6 more Avocet, 2 Oystercatcher (+ an incubating bird on the roof of the hide) and 25 Black Tailed Godwit.
