Hen Harrier

We are pleased to be hosting a juvenile Hen Harrier this morning, this mobile bird has been seen hunting near to and over Middle Point and has also visited the North end of the reserve, the spartina island and Dumbles foreshore. It was mobbed by a Marsh Harrier at one stage.

Other highlights include the following

Middle Point

The juvenile Hen Harrier (initially on the Dumbles but flew N where mobbed by Marsh Harrier, it returned and went South), 3 Yellow Wagtail, 3 Wheatear, 2 Whinchat + 3 Reed Warbler on the fences, 2cy Spoonbill, 15 L. Egret, 4 Pintail, 12 Avocet, 233 Curlew, 17 Ringed Plover, 77 Dunlin, 2 Knot on the mudflats. A party of 50 Goldfinch and Peregrine also present.

4 Snipe, 4 Black-tailed Godwit, 30 Teal as well as Moorhen, Coot, Greylag, Black-headed Gull, Grey Heron, Gadwall and Mallards.

293 Teal, 22 Black-tailed Godwit, juvenile Bar-tailed Godwit, 2 juvenile Ruff, 21 Wigeon, 4 Pintail, 15 Shoveler, 2 Reed Warbler, 50 Lapwing.

South Lake

239 Black-tailed Godwit, 19 Ruff, juvenile Little-ringed Plover, 16 Redshank, 30 Teal, 8 Shelduck, 6 Cormorant, 30 Tufted Duck, 120 Greylag, 4 Snipe
