Highest flock count of the winter so far with 114 Bewick's Swans and 2 Whoopers Swans feeding in the fields NE of the car park this afternoon, visible from the Sloane Severn View Observation Tower at the visitor centre.

Van de Bovenkamp Hide/Tin Shed Ground

A flock of feeding Greylag Geese with Black-tailed Godwits joining them but the highlight was 202 Russian White-fronted Geese grazing (17 on Bottom New Piece at the same time made it the highest count of the winter so far, 219 in total)

Kingfisher Hide

Flocks of Black-tailed Godwit, Golden Plover and Dunlin gathering to feed on the Bottom New Piece this morning with a Peregrine briefly on a kill this afternoon before a Buzzard claimed the meal. A few Fieldfare on the fields.

Rushy Hide

Spotted Redshank moving between here and Tack Piece but feeding well on the ice free sections of the lower pond.

Tack Piece

Juvenile Dark-bellied Brent with the Canada Geese + Lesser White-fronted and Pink-footed Goose, 1700+ Wigeon with a few Teal and Pintail and Ruff, Redshank, Dunlin and Lapwing arriving through the morning to feed on thawed areas.

South Lake

The deep lake is holding many ducks of various species, 17 Cormorant and 14+ Little and 2+ Cattle Egrets roosted.
