Increase in Teal and Red Knot arrival

A decent sign of autumnal migration this morning with at least 1061 Teal counted on the scrapes. Another notable count involved a large flock of Red Knot with at least 158 coming to the Top New Piece over high tide and another 38 heading in to join them. Nearly 200 on the scrapes! At least one was an adult with remnants of breeding plumage.

Bottom New Piece

BITTERN along the fence where the flood meets the reeds in SW corner, 3 Ruff, 2 Black-tailed Godwit.

Top New Piece

The Knot flock (read above), Greenshank, 4 Ruff, 120 Lapwing, 7 Black-tailed Godwit, increase in Teal to 723, 30 Wigeon, 3 Yellow Wagtail, 35 Starling and the Barnacle Goose flock.

Middle Point/Dumbles foreshore

Juvenile Yellow-legged Gull, 80 Curlew + 40 on the Dumbles with 1 Black-tailed Godwit, c100 Dunlin, 28 Ringed Plover, 1 Sanderling, 18 Little Egret, juvenile Little-ringed Plover, 26 Wigeon, 2 Pintail, Peregrine, Wheatear and flock of c38 Red Knot (flew into TNP).

Robbie Garnett Hide

Adult Spotted Redshank (flew to Rushy), 3 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Green Sandpiper, 52 Teal.

Knott Hide

5+ singing/calling Chiffchaff.

Rushy Hide

Teal 62 including a nasal tagged bird (green black characters L K5 L) , 24 Gadwall, 6 Shoveler, 3 Pintail, 20.Lapwing, Wigeon + hybrid male, 6 Black-tailed Godwit, Grey Heron, Grey Wagtail.
