Little Gull on South Lake

Little Gull on South Lake

South Lake

The very pink breasted 1st summer Little Gull is still here feeding over the lake and resting just metres away on the causeway also Avocet 66 including at least 10 incubating birds, Blackwit 80, Ruff 1, Common Sandpiper 1, Little Ringed Plover 2. Great to see the BH Gull colony back to full volume. Single Great Crested and Little Grebe on the lake hopefully both with incubating partners.

Zeiss Hide

Avocet 15, Black Tailed Godwit 4 and a pair of Redshank. Ducks included 10 Shoveler, and 6 Teal. Two Marsh Harriers hunted through the area around 08.155 before moving off north and there was a Buzzard on the Sea Wall. As with all even tiny patches of Reeds throughout the site both Reed and Sedge Warblers singing despite the cold wind. The Crane pair are still incubating on their island, got to feel sorry for them in the cold wind.

Estuary Tower

The 2 Marsh Harriers flew north past the tower as did the Spotted Redshank, much activity on the scrape with 24 Avocet including at least 10 incubating birds, a lone Crane on the Dumbles otherwise all a bit cold and exposed.

Tack Piece

Still a good set of Ducks here, 28 Teal, 10 Shoveler, 5 Gadwall and a lone male Pintail and female Wigeon, also 3 Black Tailed Godwit, 77 Avocet and a pair of Redshank.

Rushy

Cranes Kia and Chocolo still incubating 2 eggs on their very exposed island and the Little Ringed Plovers incubating in their cage but spending long periods off the nest. Also a Common Sandpiper and a pair of Redshank.

Road Fields

The two Glossy Ibis have been showing well here, stop and have a look in the fields after coming over the bridge.
