More Crane activity

Lots of Crane activity again on the Dumbles, both families with 1 young and some territorial posturing in the Bottom New Piece field

South Lake

A tightly packed flock of 209 Black Tailed Godwit and 65 Avocet sheltering from the strong winds. A good scattering of Gulls including several Commons. Shoveler numbers remaining high with 98 here.

Zeiss Hide

Wigeon 240 and teal 112, a slow building flock of Golden Plover with 48 when I left. Some small flocks of Dunlin were flying around but too much activity from the two Peregrines for them to settle.

Kingfisher Hide

A liitle bit of sunshine mid morning and lots of activity from the Kingfishers including lots of work in the burrow and territorial disputes with a passing spare male. A great time to come and see these iconic birds.

Holden Tower

Good Crane activity on the Dumbles at least 8 birds including both families and an un-ringed bird. A scattering of feral geese including a young Bar Headed Goose no doubt an escape from captivity but not from Slimbridge. Low numbers but a good mixture of Ducks.

Tack Piece

Still 300 Wigeon here and a selection of other Ducks, a lovely flock of 77 Curlew, 2 Snipe, 46 Black Tailed Godwit and 22 Redshank.

Rushy

Still 93 Pintail here but the lone Bewick's Swan is in Swan Lake with the collection birds. Chiffchaff singing nearby in Decoy.
