More high tide waders

This morning's high tide pushed waders back on to the Top New Piece as viewed from the Zeiss Hide, including 400+ Dunlin, 80+ Ringed Plover and a summer plumaged Little Stint.

South Lake Hides

Numbers of all species were reduced this morning, but the variety was maintained.  The Black-tailed Godwit flock was 149 strong, with most birds roosting on the edge of the island.  Six Snipe were feeding along the back shoreline with 7 Lapwing, 3 Ruff and 23 Redshank.  A Pochard was on the deep lake and a Kingfisher flew by.

Rushy Hide

Two juvenile Little-ringed Plover were seen this morning along with 7 Lapwing, 3 Snipe, 2 Green Sandpiper, a Redshank and 21 Black-tailed Godwit.

Zeiss Hide

High tide around 11am produced 400+ Dunlin, 80+ Ringed Plover and a gorgeous summer plumaged Little Stint.  Six Redshank were also present.

Holden Tower

Up to 3 Peregrine were hunting over the river and the Dumbles this morning.  Nine Common Tern were roosting on the river before the tide pushed them to take flight.  At least 3 Willow Warbler, 3 Blackcap, a Whitethroat and 2 Chiffchaff were in the copse in front of the tower.  A Little Egret was on the river.
