New migrants in

An arrival of migrants was very noticeable, perhaps a few firsts of the year among them (in bold).

Tack Piece

Single Snipe, Dunlin and Whimbrel, latter also visiting estuary and Dumbles, 11 Redshank, 20+ Wigeon, 30+ Teal, 40+ Shoveler and 8 Pintail. Four singing Willow Warbler, Blackcap and Chiffchaff in the hedges, Sand Martins and Swallows feeding over, Wheatear near Middle Point. A Hobby reported flying over this afternoon.

First winter Russian White-fronted Goose, three Wheatear at Middle Point, 26 Curlew on the Dumbles, single Sanderling, 6 Ringed Plover and 5 Dunlin, 3 Redshank, 2 Lapwing, Male Marsh Harrier through, Yellow Wagtail over NE.

Top New Piece

Immature Spoonbill, nesting Crane, Avocets and Black-tailed Godwits plus singing Reed Warbler below Zeiss Hide.

Bottom New Piece

Three Lapwing on the field, female Marsh Harrier.

Male Kingfisher at the nest bank. Singing Sedge Warbler

South Lake

Nesting Crane, 3cy Mediterranean Gull, 100 Black-headed Gull, flocks of Avocet and Black-tailed Godwits, Oystercatcher.
