Car Park Works Tuesday 3rd & Wednesday 4th March

During these dates, parking spaces may be restricted to allow contractors to safely and effectively carry out line painting. Please be mindful that diversions may be in place, and accessible parking spaces may be temporarily relocated to other suitable areas during the works. At times, access to the site may be via the Orchard car park. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The Wheatear continues to show well at the Pillbox along the Summer Walkway. Our Twitter feed is full of photos of this very confiding bird.

Zeiss Hide
At least 820 Teal and 31 Wigeon were on the Top New Piece this morning until they were flushed by a Peregrine, but settled again soon after. Also of note were a Redshank, a flock of Lapwing, 13 Shoveler and three Ruff.

South Lake
Two Pintail were with the Teal from the Hogarth Hide. From the Discovery Hide on the wader scrape were ten Redshank and 69 Black-tailed Godwit with a total of 349 Teal across the whole area. The deep lake held six Pochard.

Martin Smith Hide
Two Snipe were feeding on the islands we cut yesterday.

Rushy Hide
Three Redshank and two Green Sandpiper were on the lower pond this morning along with 106 Teal. The upper pond held three Pochard (two males), five Shelduck, seven Gadwall, a drake Shoveler, 58 Tufted Duck and two Pintail.

Summer Walkway / Middle Point
The Wheatear still showing very well by Pillbox viewing platform. A flock of 514 Dunlin werer out on mudflats, with another flock of c120 birds flying south. Also counted were 87 Shelduck and 36 Curlew.
