Sunday 14 September

Top New Piece

Glossy Ibis, Spoonbill, juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, 11 Ruff, 12 Redshank, c40 Black-tailed Godwit, 9 Wigeon and Pintail among the Teal, large flock of Greylag and Canada Geese

Rushy Hide

Two Garganey, 3 Ruff, 18 Redshank, 3 Spotted Redshank, Green Sandpiper, among the many birds present.

Middle Point

At least 5 Little Stint and 14 Curlew Sandpipers among the Dunlin and Ringed Plover on the Severn.  Also single Bar-tailed Godwit, Whimbrel and Turnstone, 8 Knot, 8 Sanderling, 5 Spoonbill,  Great and 12 Little Egrets. Four Golden Plover early morning. 


Saturday 13 September

Friday 12 September

In the morning 58 Gadwall, 191 Teal, 8 Shoveler, 1 Redshank, 1 Black-tailed Godwit, 144 Greylag geese, 1 Canada goose, 67 Lapwing and in the afternoon Curlew Sandpiper, 2 Knot, 3 Spoonbill and a Marsh Harrier. Later in the day there were 5 Spoonbill, Great Egret, Cattle Egret, Goosander, 6 Wigeon, Juvenile Dunlin, Garganey and 4 Common Redshank

Estuary Tower - Dumbles and the river

Black Tern seen feeding and resting on the river at 9am with two at 5pm, 2 Common Tern seen resting at 12pm, Oystercatcher, Great Egret, Ringed Plover, Curlew.

Four Curlew Sandpiper, 10+ Ruff, 4 Spoonbills. 

Middle Point

A Little Stint and 37 Avocet flew past at high tide with the Ringed Plovers.

South Finger Path/gate

Three Spotted Flycatcher on the perimeter fence.


Monday 8 September

Middle Point/Estuary Tower

100s small waders have been chased about by a juvenile Peregrine on the flood tide. 2 juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, Little Stint, 10 Sanderling among the Ringed Plover and Dunlin + 3 Bar-tailed Godwit (two breeding plumage males) with Curlew.

Tack Piece

Three Greenshank, 5 Green Sandpiper, 100+ Teal.

Estuary Tower

At high tide, 400+ small waders on the saltmarsh, 212+ Curlew, Golden Plover heard, 15+ Yellow Wagtails following the cattle on the Dumbles, 2 Wheatear in the dry scrape, Whinchat on Middle Point fenc

Rushy Hide

At least two Garganey, 5 Red Knot, 6 Spotted Redshank, 10 Ruff and a few Snipe among the roosting Lapwings, Redshanks and Black-tailed Godwits.

A good fall of Spotted Flycatchers!

Distant views of Wood Sandpiper mid morning. At least 51 Avocet over the high tide. Two juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, 4 Spoonbill, 12 Wigeon, 15 Ruff, 11 Avocet, 100s Teal, 100s of Greylag/Canada Geese.
