Saturday 22 November

Kingfisher Hide

3 Roe Deer on Bottom New Piece

34 Shelduck, 46 Lapwing, 33 Teal. 31 Canada and 2 Greylag geese

Decoy Hide

14 Shoveler, 3 Teal, 2 Tufted Duck


Friday 21 November

South Finger and Kingfisher Hide

Song Thrush, 2 Cettis Warbler, 3 Water Rail and 6 Roe Deer (2 females and 4 youngsters)

Zeiss Hide

Extensive ice cover so no waterfowl. 150 Dunlin roosting, 50 Lapwing, Great Black Back Gull  and a Raven and Peregrine.

South Lake

60 Lapwing, 47 Tufted Ducks, 42 Shoveler, 14 Pochard, 2 Pintail and a Little Grebe.
Plenty of activity around the grounds especially on sunny side of hedges. Black cap, Goldcrest, Tree Creeper , Tit flocks

Rushy Hide

21 Bewick’s Swan, 2 Sanderling with 300+ Dunlin.

Wednesday 19 November

A cold NW wind blowing in across the Dumbles with sleet early morning, a touch of snow over in Cinderford.

Estuary Tower

Two Marsh Harriers and a pair of Peregrine hunting the foreshore and Middle Point area early morning, flocks of Pintail, Teal and Wigeon on the Severn. Pink-footed Goose with the Canada/Greylag/Barnacle Goose flock. 67 Great Black-backed Gulls roosting on the foreshore over the tide with 8 Cormorants.

Five Little Stint feeding on the central flood + 400 Dunlin, Ruff, Redshank and Curlew with Lapwing and Golden Plover. 100s of Teal and Wigeon on the scrape.

Still 19 Bewick's Swans on site today but moving between here, Tack Piece and the entrance roads fields.

18 Shelduck, 360 Lapwing, 300 Golden Plover, Marsh Harrier, 8 Shoveler, 88 Teal, 32 Avocets. 


Tuesday 18 November

Tack Piece

Forty Russian White-fronted Geese includes a 'mega-brood' of twelve juveniles in the company of two adults! , 19 Bewick's Swans (moving between here and the Rushy), Pink-footed Goose with the Canada/Greylag Goose flock, a few Ruff and Redshank, 150+ Dunlin, lower numbers of ducks here today but 2 Marsh Harriers hunting. 


Monday 17 November

Following on from the arrival of our first three Bewick's Swans of the season yesterday, we had reached a total of thirteen by late morning today. This included a juvenile (cygnet) and some individuals that are well know to us thanks to the bill pattern recognition.  Maisie and Maifeld have returned for another winter. Images- M.J. McGill.

Estuary Tower

Four Marsh Harrier and Peregrine early morning, now 28 Russian White-fronted Geese on the salt marsh includes 15 juveniles, it seems 12 of them are with one pair of adults. A Little Stint called in on the Dumbles scrape briefly, flocks of Lapwing, Dunlin and the usual geese including the Ross's and hybrids. Flocks of Wigeon, Teal and Pintail on the Severn, these were displaced by the raptors plus 2 Avocets on a tidal pool.

South Lake

Four Avocet and 4 Black-tailed Godwit with the Lapwing, 100s Teal and Shoveler, 19 Cormorant plus Tufted Duck and Pochard on deep lake.

Rushy Hide

The Bewick's Swans came in to feed this morning but some headed out to the Tack Piece. A Little Stint was among c300 Dunlin.
