Wednesday 21 May

Middle Point

Male White-spotted Bluethroat still singing with Reed Buntings, Reed and Sedge Warblers also in song. Six Grey Plover, 4 Sanderling, 6 Dunlin and 20 Ringed Plover on the mudflats and a Marsh Harrier hunting the shoreline.

Two Spoonbill on the islands.


Tuesday 20 May

Kingfisher Hide

Young have fledged, courtship for second nesting attempt is underway.

Decoy Hide

Kingfishers feeding young in bank far left side of pond.

Middle Point

Male White-spotted Bluethroat, 2 Reed Bunting and Sedge Warbler all singing, 101 Ringed Plover, 6 Grey Plover, 6 Dunlin, 3 Curlew and 8 Sanderling on the mudflats.

Rushy Hide

Both ponds busy with the Avocet (includes a colour ring bird, Dark Green over Dark Blue L above, Lime over Orange R above) and Black-headed Gull colonies, pair of Oystercatcher and Lapwing, Tufted Ducks, Shelducks, Mallards, Moorhens, Coots and a Shoveler.

South Lake

Little-ringed Plover, pair of Redshank, two pairs of Oystercatcher, one with two chicks, two Black-tailed Godwit, 80+ Avocet, two broods of Mallard, Little Grebes, a few Shoveler and Gadwall on the scrape.

Singing Common Whitethroat.

Car Park

Cuckoo singing just to the North but mobile.

Grounds

A couple of singing Sedge Warbler, 5+ Reed Warbler, Kingfisher and couple of pairs of Oystercatcher.

Great and Little Egrets at the end of right hand channel and nesting Oystercatcher on the field.

Short-eared Owl hunting along seawall and shore.

Two Spoonbills and Common Sandpiper, 8 Redshank, Lapwing with four young, pair of Teal, 21 Gadwall, singing Reed and Sedge Warbler and Reed Bunting from Zeiss Hide.
