South Lake
Most of the Rushy waders moved here + 2 Green Sandpiper and including the juvenile Red Knot and 18+ Ruff. Busy with Teal, Gadwall and Shoveler and large flock of Greylag Geese with the Tundra Bean Goose.
Rushy Hide
Two Spotted Redshank, 16 Ruff, 21 Redshank, 2 Snipe, juvenile Red Knot, 119 Black-tailed Godwit, Green Sandpiper, 3 Lapwing and a few Shelduck and Shoveler among Teal/Gadwall flock+ 3 Pied Wagtails. The majority of the waders moved to the South Lake.
Tack Piece
Three Garganey, 104 Teal, 8 Shoveler, juvenile Greenshank, 6 Black-tailed Godwit, 5 Green Sandpiper, Snipe, Grey Heron, 8 Moorhen.
Pill Box Pool
Black-tailed Godwit, Little Egret and 6 Teal.
Top New Piece
Three Spoonbill, 2 juvenile Wood Sandpiper, 3 juvenile Red Knot, 3 Green Sandpiper, 6 Snipe, juvenile Ruff and adult reeve, 4 Garganey on fleet + 2 Little Grebe, brief head view of Bittern on reedy island, 11 Crane over to Dumbles.
Middle Point
On the flood tide- 7 Knot flew past and a calling Whimbrel + Curlew and Shelduck, 44 Avocet on tidal pool to N, on the mudflats flock of 93 Ringed Plover and c40 Dunlin to North and 48 Ringed Plover and 5 Dunlin to South but all mobile.
Bank Holiday Monday 25 August
Tack Piece
Three Green Sandpiper, a few Reed Warblers (one pictured) and Chiffchaffs from Robbie Garnett Hide.
Top New Piece
Spoonbill (probably three over high tide), 63 Black-tailed Godwit, 9 Redshank, Spotted Redshank, Green Sandpiper, 4 Snipe, at least one Garganey, Pochard, Great Egret juvenile Ruff.
Rushy Hide/Peng Observatory
21 Ruff, 12 Redshank, Spotted Redshank, 132 Black-tailed Godwit, Snipe, Green Sandpiper, a few Lapwing, 50+ Gadwall, Shelducks, Greylag Geese and Tundra Bean Goose.
Middle Point
Early morning before the flood tide- 12 Little and a Great Egret, 3 Grey Heron and 2 Spoonbills feeding in low tide creek, 3 Knot, at least 14 Dunlin and 21 Ringed Plover on the mud.
At high tide on Dumbles foreshore- Flock of Ringed Plover and Dunlin with three Knot, 183 Curlew, 14 Crane, 11 Little Egret, Great Egret, a few Grey Herons Yellow legged and 12 GBB Gull in the high tide Gull roost.
Summer Walkway/Tack Piece
Two Wheatear (pictured) and a few Yellow Wagtails.
