Monday 30 June
Rushy Hide
At least 8 Green Sandpiper Ipictured) early morning three to moved out to Tack Piece. Lapwing, 6 Avocet, Black-headed Gulls, broods of Tufted Ducks, Shelducks and Mallards.
Middle Point
Male White-spotted Bluethroat singing again this morning. Spoonbill feeding in tidal pool plus 7 Little Egret and 5 Grey Heron, 12 Lapwing, c30 Curlew, c 10 Oystercatcher and 100s of gulls. Singing Reed Buntings (pictured).
South Lake
60 Avocet + 4 broods (1,2,2,3), returning male Ruff, 42 Black-tailed Godwit, 6 drake Pochard, 22 Teal, 9 Shoveler 3 Little Grebe, Green Sandpiper, 23 Redshank, 2 Spotted Redshank, 5 Tufted Duck broods, brood of 7 Gadwall + 100 adults
Top New Piece
Three breeding plumage male and a female Ruff, 51 Lapwing, 6 Little-ringed Plover (one juvenile, not fledged from here), 61 Black-tailed Godwit including colour ringed bird, 3 Green Sandpiper, 2 Garganey (female on fleet S of Zeiss Hide and eclipse drake on the flood with 27 Teal, 43 Redshank (2 juveniles fledged from here, beware as they can cause confusion with Wood Sandpiper or other species), Shoveler, 2 Little Egret, 2 Grey Heron, single Crane.
Tack Piece
Up to 12 Green Sandpiper but these birds are ranging about the reserve today, definite influx of new birds, Ross's Goose with Barnacle Geese.
