Stint in

A few new arrivals about the scrapes today, post or failed breeding birds arriving back in the area to moult or feed.

Top New Piece/Zeiss Hide

Adult breeding plumage Little Stint, 29 Dunlin including the first juvenile of the year, (juveniles lack the black belly and are very neat), 11 Little-ringed Plover (5 juveniles), at least 114 adult or fledged Avocets with broods of young as well, 2 Green Sandpiper, 30 Teal, 12 Gadwalll

South Lake

The nesting pair of Little-ringed Plover still incubating eggs, at least 44 Redshank (included 4 juveniles), 3 male Ruff (these were on TNP earlier), 245 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Dunlin, 90+ Gadwall, 22 Teal and Mediterranean and Common Gull among the Black-headed Gulls.

Tack Piece

Greenshank on the scrape but may have moved to Top New Piece/estuary, 2 Green Sandpiper, 4 Oystercatcher and a flock of Greylag Geese.

Rushy Hide

Five Green Sandpiper, broods of Avocet as well as moulting Mallards.

South Finger filtration beds

2 juvenile Grey Wagtail on the floating aviary.

Estuary

2cy Spoonbill on the spartina island over high tide +135 Curlew, 11 Dunlin and an adult Sanderling. (apologies it can only be viewed from the Sloane Tower or Zeiss Hide while the Summer Walkway track is being constructed).
