Today's sightings- migration stepping up

Zeiss Hide

Wood Sandpiper 1 juvenile with 5 Green Sandpipers on flood in Bottom New Piece, also viewable from the Kingfisher Hide. 2 Greenshank-adult and juvenile for comparison, 167 Black-tailed Godwits, 30 Redshank, 22 Ruff (6 adults, 3 males in non-breeding plumage and 3 adult females, the rest are juveniles), 10 Dunlin and 9 Ringed Plover came in from the estuary over high tide, 1 Common Tern flew through, 200 Teal and 70 Gadwall. a Tree Pipit flew over calling. Plenty of Sedge and Reed Warbler and a couple of Whitethroat also seen.

No waders this morning, they are all on the Top New Piece,but 500 Greylag, 2 Great Crested Grebe and 200 Black-headed Gulls. We may be conducting some management work out here today as it is quieter for birds.

Water Rail, juvenile Garganey and Teal.

Around the Otter enclosure this morning- Nuthatch 1, Coal Tit, Goldcrest, 20 Chiffchaff and a tit flock. Yellow Wagtail over low N, Kingfisher. Three Great spotted Woodpecker.
