Some work here this morning preparing rides through the reed bed in the hope of seeing more of the Bittern and Water Rail in the winter. Still 280 Teal with 4 Pintail and 21 Shoveler among them. Only 14 Ruff this morning and a handful of Black Tailed Godwit, but wait for high tide (around midday) and birds being pushed of the estuary (see yesterday).

South Lake

Still a huge flock of Greylags, best seen from here with 472 counted here this morning with another 45 at the South Finger. Duck flock increasing steadily there were 42 Shoveler and 67 Teal counted this morning. Waders a little down by recent standards but still 108 Black Tailed Godwits a single Ruff, 30 Redshank and a Greenshank. The Adult and young Great Crested Grebe are still very busy on the lake.

Holden Tower

Still flooded on the Dumbles after the recent high tides. There were 150 Teal in the flood water and 40 Wigeon (the highest count of the autumn so far). there were 6 Yellow Wagtail with the cattle, a distant Hobby and rarest of all a Nuthatch in the hedge.

Rushy

The usual two Cranes here just a single Green Sandpiper and 9 Black Tailed Godwits. watch out for a Grey wagtail around the top pond islands.

Car Park

Hooching with warblers here this morning, best estimates; Willow Warbler 3, Chiffchaff 25, Blackcap 12, Garden Warbler 1, Lesser Whitethroat 1 also 3 Great Spotted Woodpeckers.
