Today's sightings-Trio of transatlantic waders

North American vagrant waders

Buff-breasted Sandpiper-showed in flight at 0800, again at high tide around 1000 and re-appeared at 1105. Showed well to warden led group until midday at least. We cannot have general access as it leads to too much disturbance to the Dumbles area. Another escorted walk is planned at 1430 today to look for for it. Meet in the Holden Tower.

Tommorows tides should bring the bird into view again if still present, view from Holden Tower (opens at 0815 for WWT members) or if it is present another walk may be planned subject to staff. The tides have flooded Middle Point and the Dumbles, it is very wet and wellies are needed. Be around the Holden Tower or Pill Box (WW2 gun emplacement) on the Summer Walkway at 0930 for news.

Pectoral Sandpiper- after hearing it and having distant flight views a juvenile of this species was located this morning. It settled in the Top New Piece at 0900. Despite searching it was not seen after 0930 but may be hidden.

Long-billed Dowitcher- the non-breeding plumaged adult still on South Lake this morning.
