South Lake Hides

The Crane family have moved off into the cover of the marsh to the right of the Hogarth Hide so can be harder to see, but with patience they do venture out and give great views.  A flock of 83 Black-tailed Godwit were on the pool along with 13 Avocet, the well-grown Oystercatcher chick and at least 28 Gadwall.

On the wader scrape were another 64 Avocet including at least 3 nests still being incubated and 17 chicks of varying sizes.  A new family of Pied Wagtail were on the exposed mud, a pair with four juveniles.
