Overnight rain

Some extra puddle flooding appeared after a night of heavy rain, the Bottom New Piece was very busy with birdlife.

Little Stint on the top pond islands, (no counts) Bewick's Swans early morning and late afternoon to roost.

Tack Piece

A small (uncounted) number of E. White-fronted Geese with the Greylag/Canada Goose flock. 200 Lapwing, 150 Wigeon and 100 Teal early morning with 43 Curlew, a few Ruff and Dunlin.

Holden Tower

Three Reed Bunting feeding below the hide, Sparrowhawk and Peregrine made hunting forays, 46 Pintail and 800 Wigeon on the Severn saltmarsh over high tide. 20 Great Black-backed Gull on the Dumbles over high tide.

South Lake

Flocks of Dunlin, Lapwing and Teal feeding on the wader scrape but the deep lake was quieter early morning due to high winds overnight. Two Snipe were seen from Hogarth Hide with a single Redshank and 8 Curlew dropped in for a bath.

Zeiss Hide

43 Snipe, 56 Black-tailed Godwit, 110 Pintail, 600 Teal, a few Ruff, 30 Pochard, calling Cetti's Warbler and 10 Great Black-backed Gulls.

Kingfisher Hide

An uncounted flock of E. White-fronted Geese with Greylags, large numbers of Lapwing, Golden Plover and Dunlin with 30 Curlew and a few Ruff among them.

Decoy boardwalk

Chiffchaff calling and showing at 2pm.

Canoe Trail

Two Chiffchaff mobile and vocal in the willows.
