Grab your wellies and head to WWT Martin Mere this February half term and get stuck in with Mudfest – where messy means fun!
Get ready to dive into the muddy magic of our wetlands! Mud isn’t just messy - it’s marvellous. It’s the stuff our super-powered wetlands and great family adventures are made of. For one week only this February half term, embrace the mess and discover just how brilliant mud can be with these hands-on activities:
Stomp, splash, squelch!
- Cook up a muddy masterpiece in our mud kitchen (just don’t taste it!).
- Tackle our muddy obstacle course - climb, crawl, and creep your way through the fun.
- Explore the fascinating beaks of wetland birds and use them to search for worms in our Mud Pit.
- Take part in our 'Muddy Bake Off' creating cakes out of moon sand, mud, and more! 11am-2pm.
- Shape clay into fantastic creations in our craft room. 1-4pm.
- Create the biggest splash in our daily Puddle Jumping Competition. 2:30pm.
- Head indoors and learn the weird and wonderful facts about nature at our Puddle Show. 11am & 2pm (weekdays only).
- Embrace the mess, unleash your creativity, and celebrate the wonder of wetlands at Mudfest!

What is Mudfest?
Mudfest is a week-long celebration of all things muddy, wild, and wonderful. Held during February half term (14 until 22 February), it’s packed with hands-on activities that let kids (and grown-ups!) explore, create, and play in nature’s messiest playground.
What should we wear?
Waterproofs, wellies, and clothes you don’t mind getting muddy. Check out our grown ups guide to Mudfest for our full recommendations.
Will there be clean-up facilities?
Yes, there will be handwashing facilities and welly washers available for a quick clean-up after you’ve finished with your muddy fun. These are conveniently located near our muddy activities.
I’m a WWT member, do I need to book?
No, WWT members enjoy unlimited entry all-year round and can just show up on the day of their choosing and take part in our muddy activities.
I’m not a WWT member, do I need to book?
Non-members will need to purchase general admission tickets to take part in Mudfest. These can be prebooked online with a 10% saving, or walk-up prices are available on the day of your visit.
