Activities

See bird and waterfowl ringing, take part in guided walks, and witness thousands of pink-footed geese on the mere.

Reserve walk

When: Saturday and Sunday, 9-10:30am and 1.30-2.50pm
Cost: Free (book on the day)

: Join Reserve Warden Jack Grimsditch on a guided tour of the reserve. He’ll show you all the best spots on the reserve and will introduce you to our most interesting wetland species.

Wild bird feed

When: Saturday and Sunday, 9am and 3pm
Cost: Free

: Get close up view of thousands of migratory birds, such as the pink-footed geese at The Discovery Hide. The 3pm feed will be commentated.

Bird ringing demonstration

When: Saturday and Sunday, 12-2pm
Cost: Free (drop in)

: Expert bird ringer and Martin Mere Reserve Manager Louise Clewley will demonstrate how bird ringing is done and explain why it is such important work. Get your camera ready for some great close ups!

Canoe Safari and Guided Boat Tours

When: Saturday and Sunday, 11am-4pm
Cost: £12 per canoe (book on the day) / £3.50 per seat on guided boat.

: Grab a paddle and take to the water on the canoe safari or book onto a guided boat tour to go around our wetlands.
