Sustainability at WWT Martin Mere

Sustainability isn't just a buzzword for us: it's at the heart of everything we do. Since Sir Peter Scott founded WWT in 1946, the vision has been clear: care for nature today so future generations can enjoy it tomorrow.

We've been recognised for this commitment and are proud to have won the Ethical, Responsible & Sustainable Tourism award in 2024, as part of the Lancashire Tourism Awards.

Although some of these changes may seem small, their impact together is huge. By 2030, we will be Net Zero as a charity and send no waste to landfill.

Here's how we're working towards a sustainable future at WWT Martin Mere.
