Arrivals

Overnight rain and some murky conditions boded well for some new arrivals and we were not disappointed! The first House Martins appeared with numbers of Sand Martin (100+) and a few Swallow. On the wader front both Green and Common Sandpiper were new in.

Other waders included 3 Ringed Plover, 45+ Black-tailed Godwit, 40+ Avocet and smaller numbers of Lapwing, Snipe, Oystercatcher, Redshank and Ruff.

At least 3 Med Gull on the Mere. No Little Gulls from yesterday's UK influx although it's still early days for that species here.

A pair of Bullfinch on the Long Hedge past the Sewage Works are noteworthy. No sight or sound of yesterday's Siberian Chiffchaff, passage birds like this tend to move on quickly in spring.

Barn Owl out again 10am. Some excellent views of Corn Bunting off the Reed Bed walk.
