Café kitchen closure

From 8–17 September, our café kitchen will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, our front-of-house will remain open, offering a selection of cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks. You will also be able to visit our kiosks by the play areas.

Barn Owls

Another good day for Barn Owl watchers with birds showing til 10:30 and from 2pm onwards. The Ron Barker Hide is probably the best spot but birds are also seen from the Harrier Hide, Reed Bed Walk and more distantly from the United Utilities Hide.

A Merlin was chasing birds early on. Three Peregrine again, 4+ Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel.

Thousands of waterfowl present with good numbers of Pintail, Wigeon, Teal and Shelduck. A pair of Goldeneye were present on the Mere.

Waders included 700+ Lapwing, 60+ Ruff, 6 Oystercatcher, 8 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Ringed Plover and Dunlin.
