Bird News

A beautiful day with a great variety of birds to be seen. The Green-winged Teal was again present from the Ron Barker hide - although it can be difficult to pick up amongst the flocks of Common Teal at times, the vertical white bar on their American cousin does stand out well if the bird is unobscured.

Kingfishers were seen from both the Ron Barker and United Utilities hides, as were good numbers of Ruff and Lapwings.

Raptors included at least 2 Marsh Harriers, a Peregrine. and a Merlin, as well as 3 species of Owl - a distant Short-eared and a Barn from the Ron Barker hide, and Tawny in the 'usual' spot just past the Kingfisher hide

2 Goldeneye were on the Mere, along with Pochard, Tufted Duck, Wigeon, Pintail, Teal, Shoveller, Mallard, and Shelduck.
