Bird News

Similar variety of birds around today as yesterday (see map below).

2 Liitle Gulls on Woodend Marsh along with a good range of waders, with up to 6 Dunlin and 8 Ringed Plovers joining the Avocets, Lapwings, Black-tailed Godwits and Little Ringed Plovers.

Mediterranean Gull on the Mere - also up to 4 Little Ringed Plovers, which for some reason were the focus of almost constant harrassment by Jackdaws !

The Great Crested Grebes' nest in front of the Harrier hide was seen to contain one egg this morning. Further research has shown that Great Crested Grebes have actually attempted to breed here on at least two previous occasions, neither of which was successful. Hopefully this will prove to be third time lucky - watch this space!
