Chiffchaff arrives

First Chiffchaff of the spring near the Janet Kear Hide. Seen but not heard, probably saving it's vocal chords for slightly warmer conditions, although as it happens it was quite pleasant in the sun today.

In the same area a male Blackcap was present, Nuthatch and male Brambling. Yesterday a male Bullfinch was seen there. If you do see a Bulfinch on the reserve pop into the in focus shop to report it.

A good wader day with 74 Avocet, 70+ Ruff, 40+ Oystercatcher, 24 Black-tailed Godwit, 8 Redshank, 8 Ringed Plover, 3 Curlew, 2 Dunlin and ~ 200 Lapwing.

The adult male Hen Harrier put in an appearance ~ 2.30pm seen from the Ron Barker Hide. Other raptors included 2 Peregrine, 4 Common Buzzard and Sparrowhawk.
